According to several studies and Selfstartr, Instagram has seen a 115% increase in organic marketing reach since 2012 and Facebook has seen a 63% decrease since the same year. Furthermore, Facebook’s filled with big brands since 93% of marketers are already present in the platform while only 36% of marketers are on Instagram. This gives you the opportunity to own a large space on the platform and reach more people.
Instagram has always been a visual platform and some brands may find it difficult to reach their target market here because it seems limiting compared to Facebook. While it’s understandable why some people think this way, the reason why Instagram can work so well is because of that very reason –it’s visual. And visual storytelling is new-age poetry.
Instagram offers an effective way for brands to convert users into brand advocates through visual storytelling. As a brand, you need to determine your brand’s story and how it will relate to people. What value am I providing to my customers? What’s my vision for the world? These are just a few questions that can get you started to help you come up with the story you want tell. Don’t forget that to effectively tell a story, you have to captivate your audience. For starters, you can do that by ensuring your content is visually appealing.
